We contracted Seaman and Son builders for demolition of an old home and construction of a new one at the same site. The planning, implementation, and follow up for this project was executed professionally and competently. Pricing was fair and their staff were a pleasure to work with. Had an excellent experience building our house with Seaman and Sons. Derek is very meticulous and really easy to work with. Derek and his crew of skilled carpenters did an amazing job. Seaman and Sons built our garage, insulated concrete form on the first story with a wood framed loft above. The workmanship was good, the job was completed when they said it would be, and the final costs were as predicted and close to the estimate. The structure itself was 20x24x15′, approximately.

Seaman and Sons provided a fabulous service from start to finish. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They were thorough and thoughtful. Communication was excellent. The quality of the work was second to none and the follow up care continues – if we ever have a question or concern about any aspect of the structure, Derek is always happy to help.

Derek built a cottage for us in Southampton. He began by demolishing the original building; the demolition was done quickly and with no damage to the surrounding property. He was responsible for getting all permits and minor variations for the new building and did that well ahead of schedule. He then built the new cottage on schedule and on budget. The quality of the workmanship is unbelievable; to this day visitors are astounded by the quality of the work. Derek hires some of the best trades in the business. Their craftsmanship is phenomenal. Derek is a very good communicator, regularly giving updates on progress and letting us know when there were issues to address. Derek knows the local area well so that his suggestions and recommendations fit very well with the community. I highly recommend Derek for any project.

Derek and his awesome team of tradesmen were amazing to work with. They listened to what I wanted in the house. They helped by explaining things so that I could understand. Their attention to detail and their pride in workmanship is outstanding. I have been in my home for almost 5 years now and have had no problems with installations. We have a partially unfinished basement and will definitely have the remaining portion finished by Season and Sons. I now have a friendship with Derek and his family. They helped my dream home become a reality. I would recommend them without any hesitation at all.

As a member of the community of Saugeen Shores –in particular Southampton– I admire the craftsmanship of the Seaman and Sons Builders. The town of Southampton has a strong history of fishing and cottaging, with many of the homes, cottages, and cute little shops reflecting its rich history. The various building that have been built brand new reflect the state of the art technology in building materials, yet still maintain the charm of the town. My husband and I have not worked on a completed project (yet) with Seaman and Sons Builders; however, we have heard excellent reviews from former customers and have hired their company to do some extensive repairs on a chalet located out-of-town (40minutes away). The owner, Derek, met with us for our first formal.

Derek Seaman and all his trades made the whole new home building process a great experience and a lot of fun. He listened to my ideas, offered excellent advice and completed the project on time with no surprises on the budget. He did an excellent job of accurately estimating the costs associated with our project such that at the end the total amount was essentially the same as what was originally predicted except for a few changes we made along the way. I work in the housing industry so I have quite a bit of experience working with contractors. I really appreciated how Seaman and Sons combined the craftsmanship you should expect from a third generation builder with a commitment to the latest energy efficient, high performance technology that is so important in today’s world. Derek helped us build a near Zero Energy home that is healthy, safe, amazingly comfortable and promises to be very durable. For example, he helped us source reclaimed brick so the house fits in to an older neighborhood, but also was able to easily achieve the energy efficiency and environmental requirements of the R-2000 program and of the LEED Platinum specification.
